KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 25): Serba Dinamik Group Bhd and Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd have formed a partnership to drive digital transformation in urban and rural Malaysia.
In a joint statement, energy services group Serba Dinamik and ICT infrastructure and smart devices provider Huawei Technologies said they had today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which marks the start of the partnership to develop digital solutions via the adoption of Huawei Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
“The MOU aims to bring about digital transformation of the oil and gas industry, innovative IT solutions on cloud and to reach the unreached by digitally enabling those in rural areas, as well as to look into setting up smart industry areas in Sarawak and Johor,” they said.
According to the companies, the partnership aims to build smart campuses and a digital industry in Malaysia.
The digital industry will include a platform for education, smart living ecosystem and automation for manufacturing, according to the companies.
The firms said the partnership aims to “establish go-to-market programmes in relation to enterprise digital transformation, smart campus planning and AI training programmes and jointly explore, design and execute cloud-based connectivity device solutions for commercial deployment”.
Serba Dinamik chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said in the statement the combined expertise and technical capabilities of Serba Dinamik and Huawei Technologies will build a strong foundation to position Serba Dinamik as an AI innovation hub.
“This is an exciting time for Serba Dinamik as we continue our international expansion plan. We are developing a strong foothold in the region and this agreement is an important step for us as we further establish our presence in Asia,” Mohd Abdul Karim said.
On Bursa Malaysia today, Serba Dinamik’s share price closed down one sen or 0.6% at RM1.66, which gives the company a market capitalisation of about RM5.59 billion.
The stock saw 7.75 million shares traded.
